One thing Mehndi Madness notices is how henna styles change over the years. Just Like fashion, henna designs evolve and change depending on the year and what is trending at the moment. When it comes to doing hand designs, we’ve noticed that people are going towards dainter designs that cover the hand in a draping way almost like jewelry. This is becoming more popular than the old school designs which were bolder and had more patterns and geometric shapes. Here’s an example of hand designs Mehndi Madness has done:
On the left, the design is draping down the fingers making it look dainty despite some of the filled in pieces. This one would be considered a new school design by the use of dots and the finger pieces. On the right, is an old school design. The flower is considered bold because of the use of the condensed pattern that's in the petals. Also the pattern of the thick vine spreading across the rest of the hand.
Let’s take a look at non-traditional designs now:
Now the differences seen between the two hand designs above can be applied to the more tattoo style henna designs as well. The old school tiger tattoo had really bold and squarish lines whereas the new school pokemon tattoo has more fluid lines and dainty detail inside.
