Why You Shouldn`t Use Chemical Pre-Mixed Cones?
By: Krysteen ~ 6/28/2019

You may be tempted to buy henna off the shelf when you see it in the store but consider this your conscious speaking because we are here to tell you, No! Henna cones that are sold off the shelf usually have chemicals and fake dye mixed in to “preserve” the life of the henna and give a darker stain. However, these chemically pre-mixed cones can be dangerous and unhealthy. So why do they add these chemicals? Safe, natural henna when mixed and activated lasts for a few days to a week. Then it no longer stains. When you add ingredients, such as a petrol chemicals, it gives the henna a longer shelf life.

Chemically pre-mixed cones, like Golecha and Kaveri may say “100% Natural” but in order for them to have a shelf life companies add chemicals to preserve the henna making many people have a reaction to them. People have reported a burning sensation, and the color may look enhanced in some way, some even say black henna, red henna or other color but true natural henna is only every a brown/red color.

Anything that has an unnatural color like the red cone in the picture above, is not pure Henna and if it says black Henna then chemicals have been added. Be warry pre-mixed cones that say 100% Natural Henna, they may come from countries where there is no governing body like the FDA to hold them to that standard. So now that you know all this, what do you do? It’s best to order premixed Henna cones from a professional, reputable Henna Artist who can answer questions about what is in their Henna. They should be able to tell you every ingredient they use and answer any questions you have. Furthermore, it should be the recipe the use on clients every day supporting that it is natural and safe!
